Students of Medical Anthropology (SoMA) are proud to present Edinburgh's first Abortion Rights Film Festival - a month of FREE film screenings exploring reproductive rights around the world.

The screenings will be held in the Usha Kasera lecture theatre on the first floor of Edinburgh Law School, Old College, South Bridge.

Stay behind after each film for a post-screening discussion with the audience and invited speakers!

Tuesday 3rd March

A fearless sea captain sails a ship through loopholes in international law, providing abortions on the high seas.

Tuesday 10th March

A documentary that follows the only four remaining doctors in the USA who openly perform third trimester abortions following the 2009 murder of Dr George Tiller.

Tuesday 17th March

Abandoned tells the stories of women in Italy, Spain, and Ireland who have been refused a legal abortion by conscientious objectors.

Tuesday 24th March

This short documentary explores how the 1967 Abortion Act transformed abortion in Britain, vividly bringing to life the story of this groundbreaking legislation.

After travelling to the UK for an abortion, three Irish women spend the night together in London. Featuring Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Derry Girls) & Ciara Baxendale (My Mad Fat Diary).
