Hosted by the Edinburgh Centre for Medical Anthropology (EdCMA) in collaboration with the Religious Studies Seminar Series.
This seminar explores the interconnections between religion, spirituality, health, and harm. Presentations will include Laurie Denyer Willis on the relationship between wounds, the state, and Evangelical belief in Rio de Janeiro; Alysa Ghose on trance possession and the reproductive life cycle in Havana; and Emma Wild Wood on the role of faith communities in shaping public health responses to Covid-19 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Each speaker will offer a brief, focused presentation to foster dialogue and connections across the fields of Social Anthropology and the School of Divinity.

This is an in-person event aimed at academic staff within Anthropology and the School of Divinity. The event will be followed by refreshments and canapes at Rainy Hall.
